Sculptra®
Sculptra®
What Is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is an advanced biostimulator injectable treatment designed to restore volume, improve skin firmness, and stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that give instant volume by physically filling the skin, Sculptra works gradually by encouraging the skin to rebuild its own collagen over time.
The active ingredient in Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible and biodegradable substance that has been safely used in medicine for many years.
How Does Sculptra® Work?
Sculptra works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production deep within the skin. After it is injected:
- The PLLA particles activate the skin’s natural healing response
- Your body begins producing new collagen around the particles
- Over time, this collagen rebuilds volume, structure, and firmness
- The PLLA particles are gradually and safely absorbed by the body
-
The newly formed collagen remains, creating long-lasting results
Because Sculptra works with your own biology, the results develop gradually and naturally, avoiding the “overfilled” look often associated with traditional fillers.

What Happens During the Treatment?
- Consultation:

- Preparation:
The treatment area is cleansed, and a topical numbing cream is applied for comfort. Sculptra may also be mixed with a local anaesthetic for additional comfort.
- Injection Process:
The Sculptra is carefully injected into the deeper layers of the skin using fine needles or cannulas, depending on the area.
- Treatment Time:
Appointments typically last 30–60 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Downtime & Recovery

- You will be advised to follow the “5-5-5 rule”:
- Massage the treated area
- 5 minutes
- 5 times a day
-
For 5 days
This ensures even distribution and optimal results.
When Will I See Results?
Sculptra is a gradual collagen builder, not an instant filler:
- Initial swelling may give a temporary fullness that settles
- True results begin to develop after 6–8 weeks
- Continued improvement occurs over 3–6 months
-
Results look natural and progressively improve with time
A course of 2–3 treatment sessions, spaced several weeks apart, is usually recommended for best results.
How Long Do Results Last?
- Sculptra results can last up to 2–3 years
- Longevity depends on age, skin condition, volume loss, and lifestyle factors
- Maintenance treatments may be recommended to sustain results long term
